Job Description: Senior Software Engineer (Cloud)SPRINGFIELD Location: Springfield, VA Clearance: TS/SCI Our client is hiring a Senior Software Engineer to work as a cloud software engineer and apply knowledge of distributed, scalable Big Data stores, to include Hadoop, Accumulo and HBase in conjunction with other technologies. You will create innovative solutions to address difficult geospatial intelligence challenges. The ideal candidate will have expertise with the MapReduce programming model and leverage strong experience in requirements analysis, installation, integration, evaluation, enhancement, maintenance, testing, and diagnosis or resolution. RESPONSIBILITIES Develops, modifies, applies, and maintains standards for software quality operating methods, processes, systems and procedures Develops overall operating criteria to ensure implementation of the software quality program according to project, process and contract requirements and objectives Conducts software inspection, testing, verification and validation. Implements software development and maintenance processes and methods Ensures measures meet acceptable reliability standards Ensures that project and process control documentation are compliant with requirements, objectives and/or contract Reviews software design, change specifications, and plans against contractual and/or process requirements (reviews include applicable specifications, materials, tools, techniques, and methodologies) Performs or directs verification of software requirement allocations, traceability, and testability Research, design, develop, and modify enterprise-wide systems and applications (may leverage experience with Hadoop, HBase, Hive, Pig) QUALIFICATIONS Active TS/SCI Clearance (Poly preferred not required) Education and Experience Requirement is either: (a) Master’s Degree (in Statistics, Mathematics, Physics, or Computer Science) plus 9+ years of relevant work experience; or, (b) Bachelor’s Degree (in Statistics, Mathematics, Physics, or Computer Science) plus 12+ years of relevant work experience; or, (c) AA or no degree with 19+ years of relevant experience 12+ years of experience with developing software in Java, C, C++, or other high level languages 3+ years of experience developing software for a Linux-based environment 3+ years of experience with software integration or testing, including analyzing and implementing test plans and scripts – 1+ years of experience with MapReduce programming 1+ years of experience with the Hadoop Distributed File System (HDFS) and with JSON Experience with online big data stores such as Accumulo, HBase Experience with version control systems, including Github or Gitlab Experience with developing solutions, integrating, extending, and contributing to Open-Source Software Experience with deploying applications in a Hadoop environment Experience with designing and developing automated analytic software, techniques, and algorithms Prefer experience with designing and developing automated analytic software, techniques, and algorithms Must be able to work collaboratively with other systems engineers, network engineers, and developers Demonstrates client interfacing skills to include good communication and organizational skills
