Job Description:

Payroll Tax Manager

Our client is conducting a search for an energetic, enthusiastic, technology oriented Payroll Tax Manager to join our team. The client uses its’ proprietary payroll Software-as-a-Service solution to pay client employees in all fifty states. The Payroll Tax Manager will be responsible for processing payroll tax payments and filing all federal, state and local payroll tax returns as well as responding to payroll tax and W-2 questions from our clients. In addition, the Payroll Tax Manager will be responsible for interfacing with our in-house software development team to ensure the Payroll system is kept up to date with changes to federal, state and local tax laws and regulations. The payroll tax manager must enjoy working with ever changing technology.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Technical & Analytical
o Preparing and remitting local, state and federal taxes due and preparing monthly, quarterly and annual returns and reconciliations
o Reviewing and resolving ongoing system audits to ensure client employee and company tax reporting is accurate
o Ensuring accuracy of payroll tax filings and associated payments
o Partnering with the software development, operations, and finance staff, as well as other members of the organization to improve, streamline, and document payroll tax processes
o Possessing practical knowledge of general payroll principles, government regulations and payroll tax requirements
o Researching and resolving compliance issues
o The ideal applicant for this post will update and manage payroll tax system and administer technical and professional tax knowledge by taking active part in awareness workshops, evaluating professional publications, and also taking part in professional associations.
o Monitoring and documenting payroll tax law changes and working with company resources to ensure system compliance

o Demonstrating high personal organization skills to ensure timely response to client questions as well as federal, state and local notices
o Sharing expertise and practices to help ensure a highly competent and professional team
o Establishing personal credibility with all departments in the organization by setting the example for aligning actions with company values
o Meeting regularly with other members of the organization to identify process improvements; creating greater efficiency and effectiveness
o Assisting Chief Financial Officer in developing a team culture that strives to perform beyond the status quo
o Ensuring information is shared in a clear, concise and collaborative manner

QUALIFICATIONS:
o Experience in payroll / payroll tax in multi-state environment
o Experience with Master Tax, Millennium, or a related payroll tax engine
o Demonstrated ability to handle numerous tasks and ability to adapt in a fast paced and ever changing environment
o Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business , or other relevant discipline with at least four years of practical experience in multi-state and multi-jurisdictional payroll tax
o Strong interpersonal skills, including persuasive written and oral communication skills
o Demonstrated ability to manage workload with multiple competing deadlines
o Strong analytical skills, oral and written communication skills, and attention to detail
o Experience working in operations with high volume of transactional data and experience analyzing that data
o Fundamental Payroll Certification / Certified Payroll Professional certification a plus
