Our client provides enterprise level support in the execution, testing, documentation and deployment of solutions focused on the virtualization of electronic classroom desktops and associated training and support applications for the Department of Defense.
We are seeking a VMWare System Administrator with IAWF IAT Level II GSCE or Security+ce or SSCP or CCNA certification. The Security + must have been received within the last three years. Candidates must also have an active secret clearance. Candidates with experience in VMWare/VMWare View, Windows 7/Windows Server 2008, Active Directory/Group Policies especially desired.
The VMware System Administrator will:
Install, investigate and resolve routine and complex matters of significance with computer software and hardware equipment.
Troubleshoot and provide assistance to remote sites of the virtualization environment.
Monitor, maintain and inventory; network infrastructure, network systems and components, system administration, and desktop systems with associated peripheral equipment.
Deploy and maintain enterprise virtual desktop infrastructure environments.
Apply patches, updates and upgrades to servers, workstations, and stored images.
Perform network scans as requested/required.
Build required reports and submit to appropriate personnel for review.
Maintain system availability in accordance with service level agreements and incident response metrics.
Essential Job Functions
Analyzes, logs, tracks and resolves complex software/hardware matters of significance pertaining to networking connectivity issues, printer, servers, and applications to meet business needs.
Coordinates hardware/software installations and upgrades to ensure work is properly performed in accordance with company policy. Recommends resolution to complex matters of significance and coordinates the implementation of the approved course of action.
Coordinates and monitors troubleshooting to isolate and diagnose common system problems; documents system events to ensure continuous functioning. Recommends course of action and implements as approved.
Oversees the installation of client department-specific applications and systems. Ensures installations are in accordance with appropriate operating procedures; determines revisions or updates to installation as needed.
Coordinates testing, upgrades and configuration of system files and services. Ensures changes are in accordance with appropriate operating procedures; recommends revisions or changes based upon results. Prepares for and prescribes approaches to possible downstream implications.
Utilizes standard corporate tools to record change and problem activities for tracking purposes.
Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
Bachelor's degree in computer science, or related field preferred
Four or more years of experience with computer systems or networking
Experience working with computer hardware for installation and upgrades
Experience working with software installation/upgrading procedures
Experience working with file and system maintenance procedures
Knowledge and experience with installation, problem detection, resolution and maintenance on the following software, Microsoft (MS) Server 2008 and newer, MS Active Directory (AD), Group Policies, MS Office SQL 2005 and newer, MS IIS 6.0 and newer, MS Windows 7 and newer, MS Office 2007 and newer professional products, Internet Explorer (IE) 6.0 and newer.
Good written and oral communication skills.
IAWF IAT Level II GSCE or Security+ce or SSCP or CCNA-Security required to start work
Good organization skills to balance and prioritize work, and multitask
Good analytical and problem solving skills to troubleshoot systems problems
Good communication skills to communicate with support personnel
