Job Description: DescriptionOur client is looking for VMware expert to assist in the design and build out of the new non-production environment (NPE). This project will include the design and architecture of the new NPE which will leverage IBM Cloud Orchestrator to perform the standup and configuration of the baseline environments. Position requires knowledge of architecting and engineering virtual environments, to include VMware products and solutions. Desired training/certifications include: VCP (VMware Certified Professional). This individual will be responsible for the development and maintenance of the DHS OBIM Virtual Environment. This role requires occasional night and weekend work to perform necessary patching and maintenance activities so there is no impact to the production system. Key Engineering skills needed are Hypervisor (VMWare) vCloud Experience with various Hypervisors (vSphere, Hyper-V, ESXi, KVM, etc.). Experience in VMWare ESX, ESXi - all versions Experience in vMotion. Dynamic Resource Scheduler (DRS) and High Availability (HA) configurations Experience in vCLI and scripting. Nice to have experience with Cloud concepts and technologies (vCloud Director, Amazon, OpenStack, etc.). Experience with Cloud orchestration tools a plus (vRealize, vCenter Orchestrator, etc.). Experience in Site Recovery Manager (SRM). Experience in Security Hardening. Experience in Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) for Virtualization HW Essential Job Functions Assists in the design of, and develops integrated solutions in accordance with, corporate standards and products. Provides basic technical support to customers by handling systems-related issues; may provide on-call technical support telephonically and/or electronically. Assists in the analysis and resolves basic program support deficiencies and conducts testing to enhance performance. Works on projects as assigned; assists in supporting the efforts of technical support staff in the performance of assigned projects. Implements and documents processes and procedures to ensure compliance with standard business practices. Assists in the implementation of training tools and documentation. Provides basic technical consultation on current and proposed systems to other organizations and clients. Performs routine repairs, maintenance and upgrades of existing systems using solutions in accordance with standard operating procedures. Investigates and resolves matters of significance. Basic Qualifications Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, management information systems, systems engineering or related field preferred Zero or more years of experience in systems engineering, software engineering, operating systems programming, or naval architecture.
